ATK’s integrated weapon systems (IWS) division began in 2006 as the result of combining medium-caliber gun systems with medium caliber-ammunition Systems. The repositioning to IWS took place in 2009, when the division acquired the assets of North Star Systems, Inc., in Birmingham, Ala. IWS now offers electronics and fire control integration to its current offerings of innovative chain gun technology and medium-caliber ammunition. The division is headquartered in Mesa, Ariz. where gun manufacturing operations are located in a satellite operation. Additional engineering, contract and business development support take place in Plymouth, Minn. Medium-caliber ammunition is manufactured at ATK facilities in Lake City, Mo. and Radford, Va.
