Aerospace & Defense Commission

 

 

The Aerospace and Defense Commission is Arizona's sole coordinator of all aerospace and defense related commercial partnerships. The Commission was established pursuant to A.R.S. §§41-1561, 41-1562, 41-1563 & 41-1564.

The Aerospace and Defense Commission is tasked providing technical support, developing goals and objectives, recommending legislation and providing direction regarding Arizona's aerospace and defense related commerce. Additionally, the Commission must annually submit a strategic plan to the Governor, the President of the Senate, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the Secretary of State and the Director of the Arizona State Library, Archives and Public Records.


The Arizona Aerospace and Defense Commission, the state’s sole coordinator of all aerospace and defense related commercial partnerships, is focused on four key strategies that advances Aerospace and Defense activity throughout the State. The plan focuses on four strategies:
 

NEW- Unmanned Aircraft Systems - Arizona Advisory Committee (UAS-AAC)

Recent FAA Reauthorization/Modernization legislation (currently in reconciliation between US House/Senate) requires a plan for the safe integration of civil unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) into the national airspace system no later than September 30, 2015. Resultantly, and in accordance with our Arizona Aerospace and Defense Strategic Plan, the Arizona Aerospace and Defense Commission (AADC) recently established an Unmanned Aircraft Systems - Arizona Advisory Committee (UAS-AAC).

The purpose of the UAS-AAC is to create and communicate A Shared UAS Vision for Arizona. The UAS-AAC will report to both the AADC and the Arizona Commerce Authority. UAS-AAC members will share ideas, needs and concerns about future civil UAS integration, and form a plan of action to best accommodate and benefit from this emerging area of aviation in Arizona.

First Annual Arizona Aerospace, Aviation & Defense (AAD) Requirements Conference-

The Arizona Commerce Authority(ACA) and the Arizona Aerospace and Defense Commission(ADC) and Arizona Technology Council (AZTC) will be hosting the First Annual Arizona Aerospace, Aviation & Defense (AAD) Requirements Conference. Information will be forth coming.

Request for AADC Non-Financial Support

Occasionally, the Arizona Aerospace and Defense Commission (AADC) is asked to provide a non-financial letter of support for current or proposed activities or programs. The AADC is not a funding agency, but can offer its support of entities/agencies pursuing resources or increased attention of its activities/program(s), if the activity/program clearly aligns with the AADC Strategic Plan.
